Living in daet

There came a time when I wanted to have a change of environment. To step back a little and see my life in a different view. Some would opt to go abroad to somehow upgrade their life or their lifestyle. But not me. I choose to go to a province.

Most of the people would think this was crazy and a waste of time. Not to mention a waste of opportunity. I was half hearted to start a life here, but still I tried my luck.
For the first few months I would spend my time crying, doubting my decision and scared to think that maybe I'm wrong.

What kept me strong was the things I'm realizing along the way.
It's true that its very different here than the life in manila. Mall closes here as early as 7:30pm. If you want to watch a movie, you'd have no choice because there is only one movie house showing only one movie at a time. And the last full show is shown at 5pm.

Back in manila my stress reliever was eating in a not so cheap resto, or smoothies, milk teas and stuff like that but here there's just jollibee, shakey's and other local restos which are by the way good.

But also, here I realize and appreciated money's worth, loving your job and being passionate about what you want.

The only way to travel around this town are tricycles or jeepneys that would take you 30 mins max to your destination. This for me is heaven but for locals here its a burden. At first I didn't understand why they'd be so stressed out about the expenses when The cost of living here is like a quarter of the cost of living in manila. Then I learned that the salary here is also a quarter of the salary in manila. Back then I'd be stressed out about my salary in manila how I can't manage to make them work for me, but here people would be happy enough to earn what I have. And even if the salary is not that big they still give their hundred percent compare to the people in manila who would complain a lot.

Yes, I'm not earning a lot like what I'm earning monthly back home, but I'm learning a lot and appreciating a lot, not to mention loving the laid back living here but sometimes I do miss manila's traffic and manila's stress. But i know, when I get back in manila I'd be a more mature me.

Till next time!
